Ismaili Muslim Students Association

Established in 2010, Ismaili Muslim Students Association is a relatively new organization at the University of Texas.

With the increasing number of Ismaili students entering the university every year, our mission as an organization is to create a network of Ismaili students at the university. We seek to fulfill this mission by increasing Ismaili student interaction with other Ismailis as well as with the UT and Austin community.

Hey Everyone! Thank you to everyone who came out to our virtual town hall with the Biden Campaign. This was a new event for IMSA and we hope you learned some valuable and information and the importance of exercising your political duty! If you would like to stay informed on the political process and be reminded of key deadlines please sign-up for updates from Ismailis Rise Up at https://forms.gle/c1ozrXvctritVFeP8.

Here are some key dates to keep in mind:
- Friday 10/5: Voter registration deadline in Texas. The registration form has to be at the election office in the county you want to register in. It can be mailed in or delivered in person, your choice. Fill out your voter registration at https://www.votesimple.org
- Tuesday 10/13: Early voting in Texas begins. If you don’t have hours to kill on election day, make a plan to vote early.
- Friday 10/23: Last day to request a mail-in ballot. The application must be at the election office in the county you want to register in.
- Friday 10/30: Last day of early voting in Texas. Next (and last) opportunity for voting is Election Day.
- Tuesday 11/3: Election Day. Head to the polls if you haven’t done so already!

Hi Friends! TX IMSA want to give you a special invitation to join the Virtual Town Hall with IMSA x The Biden Campaign. The Biden Campaign will be represented by Farooq Mitha, Senior Advisor for Muslim Engagement. We will be hosting a Q&A session to learn more about the Joe Biden Campaign, get insight into policy decisions, and learn how to get involved. We will also have a voter registration drive and have optional phone banking. Register here and join us on Sunday, September 13th at 6:00 pm.

We’re proud to share that the City of Austin along with the Healthy Student Organization recognized IMSA for being one of the top organizations at UT for prioritizing the importance of health and wellness. We were awarded the highest achievement, Gold, for hosting events such as hikes, fitness classes, and sports tournaments, as well as spreading awareness about mental health and providing members with tips on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle! 🏅 A huge shoutout to our members for consistently participating in our activities and making this award a reality! Thank you 🧡🤘

Over the last three years, IMSA has built an amazing partnership with the Refugee Services of Texas. Guided by the principles of human compassion and dignity, RST welcomes refugees, immigrants, and other displaced peoples and helps them settle and adjust into their new communities.

Through our annual talent showcase, Stand Up for Refugees, we hope to raise awareness and donations for their meaningful cause. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are unable to hold the actual event this year. However, we still want to support them through any means possible and continue spreading awareness to our members and the community at large.
