✨New Art Lab exhibition! “Balance of Exchange” invites viewers to reflect on the intricate process of giving and receiving through the work of four contemporary artists. The exhibition will be on view till May 10, 2025. Check the details below to learn more! 👇

Exhibition dates: April 23, 2025–May 10, 2025
Gallery Hours: Mon-Fri 7:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Sat–Sun 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

6101 Highland Campus Dr, Austin, TX 78752
Building 4000, 1st Floor Elevator Lobby

About the Exhibition:
“Balance of Exchange” invites reflection on the intricate process of giving and receiving through art. Four contemporary artists explore the interaction between emotions, materials, and perspectives, offering a space where art becomes a channel for understanding and human connection. Each piece is an invitation to exchange ideas, share experiences, and rethink social and personal narratives. The exhibition embodies the spirit of collaboration and introspection, inviting the viewer to engage with the work in a meaningful way.

“Balance of Exchange” is the culminating, semester-long project of students enrolled in ARTS 2389: Academic Cooperative at Austin Community College. Collaboratively, and under the supervision of faculty, students have conceived of an exhibition theme; created and curated works of art; created an exhibition design; planned and implemented publicity and an opening reception; prepared interpretive materials; installed and uninstalled works of art; and engaged in other work necessary for a successful exhibition.

Be sure to head downstairs to the Art Lab to check out this amazing exhibition. Congrats to the Academic Cooperative class for putting together such an amazing show! 👏

Touch the Art was born in response to signs saying “Don’t touch the art”, to challenge the status quo and often inaccessible nature of most gallery exhibitions.

Our mission is to amplify the voices of marginalized and visually impaired & blind individuals who are often left out of fine art spaces. Through Touch the Art, we’re highlighting their stories and talents to foster a deeper appreciation for their artistic contributions. Touch the Art engages all senses—all art can be touched.

ACC Professor Shawn Camp, who teaches Painting in the Art Department has an upcoming two-person exhibition at ICOSA Gallery that opens April 11. See details below for more information.

About the Exhibition:
ICOSA Collective presents Lucitations, an exhibition from Shawn Camp and Vy Ngo exploring the connections between the creative process, the intersection of the organic and subconscious, and various states of energy felt when we are present in our surroundings.

Lucitations is a meditative state achieved through the act of creation, where the painter and the canvas engage in intuitive dialogue. As artists, Camp and Ngo are conduits for decision-making, who allow their internal dialogue to guide them into creative flow. At the core of their process, prioritization on remaining fully present facilitates much deeper conversations between order and chaos, expansion and focus, trust and surrender.

Location: ICOSA Gallery, 916 Springdale Rd, Bldg 2, #102
Exhibition Dates: April 11–May 10, 2025
Opening Reception: Friday, April 11, 7 p.m.–10 p.m.
Artist Talk: Thursday, April 17, 6 p.m.–8 p.m. (Third Thursdays)

The Art Galleries and the ACC Center for Peace & Conflict Studies will host two Restorative Listening Circles with the aim of creating a space where visitors can start a conversation about the issue of gun violence in our society. These events will be one hour long and consist of two-parts. We will start at 5:00pm with an in-gallery discussion in Gallery 4000 about an artwork in the exhibition. Then, we will all transition to a nearby space for a discussion circle.

March 27, 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Gallery 4000 (HLC 4.2105) & Military Families Center
April 17, 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Gallery 4000 (HLC 4.2105) & Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center

The artist collective, American Roulette, seeks to open dialogue and foster discussions related to mass shootings and gun violence in the United States.
Through exhibitions, the collective engages with communities by inviting local artists to submit artwork to be included in every exhibition. The selection of the works is juried by gallery curators and the American Roulette Collective.

Restorative Listening Circles offer an inclusive and collaborative space for participants to share openly and build trust with each other. Everyone will have a chance to speak without interruption and all voices are considered equally important. Circles strengthen community relationships and provide the space to understand others’ perspectives.

Events are free & open to the public. No RSVP required.
