Join us for a fun live demo by dance majors and non-dance majors from each dance studio class that ACC offers!

Monday, May 11 at 7:00pm (dancer meeting at 5:15 and warm up at 5:45pm).

Choreographers’ Showcase is happening! ✨ May 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm in the Highland Campus Blackbox Theatre!

Students in the Choreography and Performance courses will present pieces of original choreography, including a new stage piece by faculty Darla Johnson, and students in the Production class will work their backstage magic✨

$5 students and seniors/ $10 general admission. All ticket sale revenue goes toward the Dance and Drama Department Scholarships. Get ‘em while they’re hot because we tend sell out!

Don't miss the Choreographer's Showcase — May 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm. ✨ We are thrilled to present Una Día a La Vez choreographed by Aislynn Alcala

Aislynn is only two semesters into her dance degree at ACC, but her passion has spanned her whole life. Born and raised in Austin, TX, she first took up dance at 14 as an excuse to earn gym credit but soon fell in love with the art, aspiring to make it a career. While Aislynn is unsure about the future, she feels that as long as she's dancing, her life is fulfilled—an outlook that connects deeply to the themes of her work.

Una Día a La Vez explores the bravery of today: "Baile Sin Miedo / Ama sin Miedo"—Dance without fear, love without fear. Building on Aislynn's lifelong dedication to dance, this piece reflects her desire to live fully and freely. We stress too much for a life that can end at any time, make sure to live. Dance because it's freeing, love because it's easy.

Don't miss the Choreographer's Showcase — May 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm. ✨ We are thrilled to present Clarissa Hernandez Cantu's piece: Is it worth it?

Clarissa's passion for dance started when she was young dancing at every family reunion in her hometown Coahuila, Mexico. She began to take dance seriously when she joined a dance company in Coahuila. Clarissa is an ACC dance major who hopes to become a dance performer for Disney.

The choreographer wants the audience to consider the following: The way to a goal may look simple in theory, but is it really that simple? Is it worth it?" This piece explores the struggles and self-doubt a person goes on the way to fulfill them. Would it stay as a dream, or would you have the courage to fight for it?

Don't miss the Choreographer's Showcase — May 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm. ✨ We are thrilled to present Bats choreographed by Yasmine Awad.

Yasmine Awad loves to dance daily. At ACC, Yasmine has chosen to major in Dance and feels fulfilled to engage with a community of artists. This creative journey is met with better defined values, technique, and new ways of thinking. Thanks to the teachers, advisors, family, and friends.

BATS is inspired by internal and external connections. Learning through evolution, this belongs to me, each other, and home.

Don't miss the Choreographer's Showcase — May 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm. ✨We are thrilled to present Soft Radiance in My Dreams choreographed by Kimi Ishida.

Kimi Ishida is an artist whose passion for dance began at a young age. She started dancing in Mexico at a competitive level with different studios focusing in jazz, contemporary, and pom styles. Moving to Austin re-sparked that interest and expanded her passion for the art. Kimi is driven to dance as it is a way of freeing her thoughts. She also loves to be on stage. Kimi is currently on a path to graduate from Austin Community College and plans to transfer to a university. Kimi hopes to grow as an artist by becoming a choreographer and a dance educator.

Her piece Soft Radiance in My Dreams explores a golden sunlit daydream. In this dream, fairies navigate their daily routines through a vibrant energy and floating joy. This dance invites you to immerse into a world where whimsy takes reign and reality fades away.

Don’t miss the Choreographers’ Showcase - May 8 & 9 at 7:30 ✨ We’re thrilled to present Reflections by Addison Ripple.

Addison Ripple is a dance major at Austin Community College and is currently in her third semester in the program. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and grew up as a competitive studio dancer, developing a strong passion for performance and technique. Addison dances to express herself without words and connect with others through movement. In the fall, she plans to continue her dance education at Sam Houston State University, where she will pursue her BFA in Dance and continue growing as both a dancer and artist.

Her piece Reflections is about how there can be two sides to one person. Reflections show finding a balance between the two sides.

Don't miss the Choreographer's Showcase — May 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm. ✨ We are thrilled to present Xscapism choreographed by Jessica Calhoun.

Jessica Calhoun is a dance major at ACC. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and has danced in both the studio and drill team. Jessica dances because she enjoys entertaining people but also because it’s a way to express herself without words and a way to share her love and passion for dance. In the future, Jessica would love to continue to share her love for dance by becoming a dance teacher after she graduates.

Jessica’s dance, Xscapism, shows breaking free from judgment and stepping out of the box you and others create. It captures the courage to overcome fear and be your true self.
