Azusa Pacific alum (2016-18) Lavell Thomas will join the Cougar coaching staff as a graduate assistant on the defensive side of the ball this upcoming season! Thomas played three seasons at defensive back for the Cougars, and he was a second-team All-GNAC selection in 2017. Welcome back Coach Lavell Thomas!

Join us in welcoming Coach Zach Minter to the 2020 Azusa Pacific Football coach staff! Coach Minter will serve as the defensive line coach with the Cougars. He comes to Azusa Pacific after a six year professional playing career in the National Football League and Canadian Football League. During his time in the NFL, he signed contracts with three teams, including an active roster contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Welcome Coach Zach Minter!

We are excited to announce that Cory Harkey has been named the Special Teams Coordinator and Tight End Coach for next season! Coach Harkey will be in his second season with the Cougars... Previous to Azusa Pacific, Coach Harkey played five seasons with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (2012-17). Please join us in welcoming back Coach Cory Harkey!!

We are excited to announce Coach Kylle Shoemaker as our Defensive Coordinator! He comes to the Cougars from West Florida, where he helped lead the Argonauts to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship. At West Florida, Coach Shoemaker served as the Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers coach. This will be Shoemaker’s second stint with Azusa Pacific, as he spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Cougars in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Welcome back Coach Shoemaker!!
