On Saturday, APU’s Institute for Faith, Leadership, and Service hosted its inaugural Children’s Conference: Faith at Play, welcoming more than 100 attendees for a day of experiencing faith across generations.

Through inspiring keynote messages from Angela Scott Lee and Judy Mandl, families were encouraged to explore the value of intergenerational faith and connection. Attendees also engaged in hands-on workshops including worship with Jessy Campos, prayground with Ashley Svoboda, and storytelling with Trevecca Okholm. The day equipped families and children’s ministry leaders with meaningful practices to nurture faith, play, and belonging together.

APU has secured an $84,000 NetVUE grant to launch the “Pathways to Purpose” initiative, designed to deepen vocational exploration within our newly launched general education curriculum. This significant funding will empower APU to build customized, engaging courses that help students align their unique gifts and passions with meaningful career paths and societal needs from day one.

“If you ask a lot of students why they go to college, it’s to get a good job when they graduate, and that’s very important,” said Bryant Mathews, PhD, director of General Education. “We want to prepare students to get excellent jobs, but we also want them to make a difference in the world for Christ and His Kingdom. In order for them to do that, we need them to not just develop skills in their discipline, but they also need to be people of character and purpose who know how they feel called to contribute to the world and people around them.”
