Cody Fuentes has spent his life running into danger as a San Antonio firefighter.
Now, he struggles just to walk across his own home.
A Lieutenant with SAFD, Cody followed his father into the fire service, showing up on people’s worst days, doing the job most of us couldn’t.
But a rare neurological disease has taken his strength. Taken his mobility. Taken him off the truck.
And just as his family was learning to live with that, everything changed again.
New tests came back abnormal.
Now doctors are searching for something even more serious — possible lymphoma, multiple myeloma… answers that won’t come until a bone marrow biopsy.
This wasn’t supposed to be his fight.
His wife Mary is holding it together for their two young daughters. Trying to keep life normal when nothing about this is.
The man who carried others out of danger is now fighting just to stand.
And this time, he needs people to show up for him.
