Johns Hopkins Kessler Scholars Program The Kessler Scholars program promotes the success of our students throughout their academic careers

The Kessler Scholars Program at Johns Hopkins University is dedicated to an intensive enrichment experience via academic and professional resources for high-achieving, service-minded students who are among the first in their family to attend college. The program invites students who intend to pursue majors in the humanities and social sciences to be part of a close-knit community of scholars that

engages in rich conversation, academic and professional opportunities, and peer, faculty, and alumni networks.

Our latest Profs & Pizza event with Prof. Dora Malech was a huge success!

In celebration of Poetry Month, our scholars gathered for an intimate evening of conversation and creativity, hearing directly from about her newest poetry collection, “trying × trying”

Profs & Pizza is our monthly series connecting scholars with JHU faculty doing inspiring, impactful work. Each event is designed to be an intimate, creative, and intellectually engaging space where ideas can be shared and curiosity can thrive.

Together, we build community by learning from one another, exploring new perspectives, and celebrating the passion and purpose that define the Kessler Scholars experience. We thank Dora for facilitating reflections and discussions with such genuine care!

February with an F for First-Gen and FLI! ✨

This past month, Kesslers came together at several events organized by our wonderful FLI team at Hopkins. We learned about ways to fly around the world through studying abroad with and our host team 🌍✈️

And two of our Kessler Scholars, Arianna and Eunice, won the bingo game! 🎉

Our hearts were deeply touched by the poems shared by two of our Kessler Scholars and leaders, Dua and Allyssa (the winner of the FLI Poetry Night!) 💙

Later in the month, our juniors and seniors came together for a candid conversation about: What’s Next? Grad School, Gap Year, and Beyond, an event led by the , , , and teams.

Last but not least, we’re excited to share the photos of our scholars wishing a happy birthday to Mr. on February 14! 🎂

February was a month of connection and celebration.

This March, we’re excited to see many of you at our upcoming Leadership Night and on our NYC trip!🗽

Last week, the Kessler Scholars Program Director at JHU had the honor of presenting at the Conference alongside our National Directors and four incredible Kessler Scholars: Zayra, Krisna, Bryan, and Jalyne. As they shared their experiences, both inside and beyond the program, the room was reminded of the power of human connection.

Their stories highlighted something deeper than resources, leadership opportunities, or research pathways: the impact of finding “your people,” whether within the program or across the university community.

As we head into Thanksgiving, the Kessler team is feeling especially grateful for the students who bring this community to life. If you haven’t joined one of our events yet or connected with our staff one-on-one, consider this your sign! You can use the links in our bio to register for our final events of the semester or schedule a meeting with our program director.

This season, we celebrate our scholars, their courage, their curiosity, and the conversations that spark so many new possibilities. The Kessler Scholars Program is proud of every one of you, and deeply thankful to be part of such an inspiring community.

Happy Thanksgiving break, Kessler Scholars!
