Here's Ciera Mamurry-Hodges, a sophomore at Morgan State University, Founder and CEO of Cici's Hair Care! Cici's Haircare, has been successful at selling their homemade hair care products and body products for the past 3 years. Mamurry-Hodges has won Charles County, Youth Shark Tank, in addition to being featured in magazines for her successful business. 👏🏿

"I created Cici's Haircare because I wanted to make hair products that are actually beneficial for maintaining healthy hair at any state that someone is in" - Ciera Mamurry-Hodges

Q: Because you have a successful business for almost 3 years running now, what keeps you motivated?

A: "What keeps me motivated is my customers because sometimes I do think about quitting but when I get messages from them saying they love my product and there hair looks good, it just encourages me to keep going"

Have you Heard? SOAR is having an Open Mic Night 🎤

Setting Optimistic Achievements Radiantly (SOAR) is a mental health awareness organization attempting to change the stigma around Black Students and Mental Health. SOAR has been operating at Morgan State University since 2022, post pandemic with approximately active 35 members. Not only do they volunteer around campus, but members from SOAR frequently volunteer with the Tendea Family located in Baltimore, Maryland. Isn't that amazing!🤗

In Celebration for Women's History Month, We would like to highlight our Co-Director Danielle Frisby! 🤩

Danielle Frisby, is an Alumna of Bowie State University, but is a bear in spirit. Danielle is the Founder of Unboxing Change, which is an Internship Preparation and Management Organization that helps and encourages Students from Pre-Kindergarten through College to create community impact events, and programs centered around Education, Activism, and Entrepreneurship.

Danielle has been the Backbone of the Blackstone LaunchPad EDAC Team. Not only is Danielle investing in future entrepreneurs, the community, and students but she has impacted so many others to be who they are today! On Behalf of the entire EDAC Team, Thank You for Everything you do! 🥰

Bear Brunch is an interactive networking experience that includes a Live Pitch Competition for students. Doors Open at 10:00 am and Brunch will include a variety of breakfast and lunch items, such as pastries, sandwiches, and drinks. Must RSVP to Attend!‼️

The Bears in Business Brunch is designed to Honor the amazing life of the late Alethea D. Pounds, Esq. by celebrating MSU students and their business and community endeavors. 🙏🏾

The Brunch will feature Student Presentations, Awards, and a Live Pitch Competition for 2K in Seed Money! Brunch Audience Votes for the Winners!💸

This week we wanted to highlight another one of our Bear Tank: Pitch and Win Idea's Competition Winner(s) Ryan Jones & Christian Turcios! 🤗

Ryan Jones & Christian Turcios are Seniors at the illustrious Morgan State University. The Duo's Business Idea is an app that allows people to list the issues they’re having with their vehicles as well as the make and model of the vehicle in order to receive a “rushed” diagnostic of what needs to be repaired on or in their vehicle. After listing these specs and receiving their diagnosis, a list of repair shops nearby would be listed with the ability to be sorted by rating, relevance, location, price, etc. This differs from other products that are in the market because it brings a convenience factor that most businesses in the auto repair industry lack. It shortens the time in which customers spend searching for proper repair shops that can do what they need, as well as eliminating the fee of diagnostic exams most repair shops require. It could also remove lower-rated repair shops from the market as a whole.

Today, we want to highlight one of our Bear Tank: Pitch and Win Idea's Competition winner Sagar Gurung! 🤩

Sagar Gurung is a Graduate Student at the Illustrious Morgan State University. Sagar is a First Generation College Student, and a First Generation Entrepreneur. Sagar's Business Idea is to invent the affordable green mobility product. Light personal electric vehicle(PEV). Affordable mobility with green tech. This PEV can travel in all terrain, can be used for daily city commute or as an recreational EV for trail rides. Equipped with semi- autonomous tech, obstacles detection sensors, that will alert the rider of the obstacles via sound if detected within the specified distance.

We are excited and proud to see the growth of Sotantra OD(Obstacle detection) Electric skateboard!

Congratulations to the Winners of the First Round of Bear Tank: Pitch and Win - Business Idea Competition! The winners took home $1,000. Furthermore, the four (4) finalists from Morgan State University will move forward to the Blackstone LaunchPad Round competing for $10,000 in additional prize money to further develop their idea's.
