Congratulations to our Latin American partners and colleagues recognized with World No To***co Day awards last week. Mônica Andreis, Director and President of our partner ACT Promoção da Saúde, Brazil; leadership and scholars' program alumna Inti Barrientos, a Medical Sciences Researcher with the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) in Mexico; and Ascend program mentor Daniel Dorado, Director of the To***co Control Campaign, with Corporate Accountability in Colombia all received recognition for their important work.

Each year, WHO honours individuals and organizations from each of the six WHO regions for their outstanding contributions to to***co control.

The work does not end on World No To***co Day. PAHO will hold a webinar on June 3 at 11 a.m. (EDT) called “Products Designed to Hook New Generations: Unmasking the Tactics of the To***co and Ni****ne Industries.” The event, which will feature Spanish and English with simultaneous translation, will highlight the strategies used by the to***co and ni****ne industries to make their products more appealing, particularly to young people and consumers who do not already use these products.
