Together with the Notre Dame community, NDMU Drama was saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Gene Farrington, retired Professor of English and former director of the Drama Program. He served our NDMU community for 29 years before retiring in 2022. Under his leadership, Notre Dame opened the Copeland Blackbox theater and launched the Drama minor. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Farrington’s family, colleagues, and students. Information regarding a service or ways to honor his memory will be shared as it becomes available. Looking for a Soring course? Sign up for DRM-240 Acting Techniques (T/TH 9:25am-10:40am). DRM-240 meets Fine Arts/Artistic Expression and is an acting class for all levels and majors. We’re delighted to welcome back Kimberley Lynne, Artistic Director Emeritus of Fells Point Corner Theatre, who will be teaching the course.

Through supportive skill-building and low-stakes performance projects, both individually and in groups, students practice collaboration, active listening, clear communication, flexibility, and confident self-expression.

Kimberley Lynne is a theatrical professional with a range of experience from playwright to producer to actor. Lynne has been acting onstage since she was twelve; her favorite roles include: Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; Lady Macbeth in Macbeth; Helen in Baby with the Bathwater; Mrs. Gibbs in Our Town; Mrs. Smith in The Bald Soprano; and Lillian in I Hate Hamlet. Lynne was vocally trained by Kristin Linklater and took acting classes with local teacher, Donald Hicken. Lynne taught acting at the University of Baltimore and has directed locally at Fells Point Corner Theatre (where she serves as artistic director emeritus), including Dead Man’s Cellphone and On the Verge.
