UMSOM LGBTQ Health Interest Group

UMSOM LGBTQ Health Interest Group Our mission is to educate future medical leaders about health issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, to create a culturally sensitive healthcare environment.

The LGBTQ interest group is a group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer individuals, and their allies at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We believe that LGBTQ individuals enhance the University of Maryland community in a unique way. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment for LGBTQ students and faculty, their loved ones, and allies. We sponsor education

al and social events focused on LGBTQ subjects for all interested parties and engage in open dialogue with other advocates and advocate groups in Baltimore, and beyond. Our most recent efforts involve advocating for additions to the medical school curriculum to emphasize the critical needs of this unique population and enhance LGBTQ health education for future physicians.
