What happens when AI enters the classroom—and the workplace?

In this episode of UMBC Mic’d Up, we sit down with Professor Ron Wilson to talk about the future of learning in an AI-driven world. We explore how educators can teach students to use AI responsibly without losing their own voice, creativity, and critical thinking skills.

One of my favorite takeaways:

“AI should free you up to do the work you’re really here to do.”

This conversation covers:
✔️ AI as an assistant, consultant, and collaborator
✔️ The future skills students need most
✔️ How instructors are adapting their teaching
✔️ Why human creativity still matters more than ever

If you’ve been thinking about the role of AI in education, work, or creativity, this episode is for you.

What happens when a 10-year fitness journey meets data science and AI?

In this new conversation, UMBC Data Science graduate student Manikanta Sirumalla shares how he built Rep Track Pro — an AI-powered fitness app designed to bring workouts, nutrition, recovery, and progress tracking into one place.

He talks about launching the app as a solo founder, applying machine learning concepts from the classroom, and turning a personal challenge into a real product now available in the App Store.
