UMBC Transit Service Alert | May 28 – June 11

Chesapeake Arena will be hosting several high school graduation ceremonies on campus beginning Thursday, May 28 through Thursday, June 11. Due to heavy traffic, road closures, and congestion, UMBC Transit will operate modified campus service during graduation events.

📍 ALL on-campus pickups & drop-offs will take place at:Hilltop Rd. – Fine Arts Loop (Taxi Pickup Location 2)

Affected Routes: 🚌 Arbutus 🚌 BWI MARC 🚌 Catonsville 🚌 Downtown 🚌 Route 40 🚌 Arundel MARC 🚌 Paradise
⚠️ Paradise Route riders may also experience delays or temporary stop impacts at: • TRC @ Linden Ave. • Westland Blvd. & Circle Dr. • Westland Blvd. & Courtney Rd.

Please allow additional travel time ⏰ during this period.

🚔 Campus Police Advisory: Traffic near the arena will be extremely heavy beginning at 8 a.m. Riders and campus visitors are encouraged to avoid entering campus from I-195 when possible.

These service enhancements are part of our continued commitment to being Safe, Reliable, and Responsive. The Route 40 expansion is designed to improve pedestrian safety, expand access to key destinations, and better connect our campus and surrounding communities.
This is a low-cost, high-impact improvement that helps make transit safer, more convenient, and more accessible for everyone.

UMBC Transit is resuming Spring 2026 Weekend service following last week’s winter storm.
 Please expect delays as snow cleanup continues. Safety is our top priority.
⚠️ Use caution when boarding: • Sidewalks may be uncleared • Do not stand in the street • Stand back and allow buses to come to a complete stop
