We've been informed of a couple of "Study abroad" opportunities.
Links are in the comments, since I can only add one link per post.
We have two amazing study abroad opportunities for vet tech students this summer! Can you please share them with current students and recent graduates of your program?
Thailand - College Veterinary Service Program in Partnership with Douglas College Vet Tech Program (June 27 - July 11, 2026)
In this, our signature two-week program, students spend one week living and working with elephants at Elephant Nature Park and one week in a small animal clinic practicing small animal clinical skills and assisting in dog spay and neuter surgeries. Cultural activities include a city tour, visits to street markets and temples, and the option to zip line or take a Thai cooking class.
This program is being run in conjunction with faculty from Douglas College Vet Tech program and is open to all current vet tech students and recent grads. There is a 25% group discount on the regular program tuition.
Mexico - Tulum Vet Tech Adventure (July 15 - July 22, 2026)
Vet tech students on this 8-day program learn what it takes to put on a canine health clinic in Mexico. After working on monitoring and assessment skills, participants help the Maya Animal Alliance run a two-day dog sterilization clinic. Additional highlights include swimming in a cenote, snorkeling with sea turtles, and exploring Playa del Carmen.
Coming Soon (December 2026)
For those not able to travel this summer, stay tuned for more information about a mid-December (after finals, before Christmas) vet tech trip in Central America (Belize or Costa Rica, TBD!) with faculty from Ogeechee Technical School. Anyone interested in receiving more information about this program once details are finalized can sign up here.
More information about our summer programs can be found on the individual program pages. Students with questions, or faculty interested in leading their own program, can reach out to me directly.
We hope to see some of your students in Thailand or Mexico this summer!
