We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Missy Korduner for her impactful work advancing graduate student success at LSU!

As part of a cross-campus team, Dr. Korduner helped launch the Graduate Student Leadership Initiative (GSLI)—a program designed to strengthen leadership development, build confidence, and support graduate students both personally and professionally.

Through this initiative, students engage in strengths-based development, personalized leadership planning, and coaching—resulting in measurable growth in leadership identity and self-awareness.

This work exemplifies what it means to build meaningful programs that elevate student success and create lasting impact. Congratulations, Dr. Korduner, on this well-deserved recognition!

We are proud to celebrate Janet Okoroji, one of our doctoral students, on the publication of her first solo article—a major milestone in her academic journey!

Her work, “Oops ‘we’ did it again: Analyzing how HR practice can go beyond leader narcissism by stimulating or suppressing collective narcissism in teams,” was published in Industrial and Organizational Psychology . In this piece, Janet expands on existing research by examining how HR practices influence not just leaders, but team-level dynamics through collective narcissism—offering valuable insight into interteam collaboration and organizational behavior.

This achievement reflects her dedication, expertise, and growing impact in the field of human resource development.

👏 Join us in congratulating Janet on this outstanding accomplishment—we’re excited to see what comes next!

Building community and polishing CVs—that's what our LHRD doctoral students were up to on November 3rd!

Grace, Janet, Jen Cook, Anissa, Constance, Tiana, Augustine, and Payton gathered for a casual get-together. It was a fantastic opportunity to work on their CVs and, more importantly, to connect and build relationships.

LHRD Doc student Payton shared what made the event so special: "We worked on CVs (kinda haha) but also it was the first time we got to sit and chat with each other since the other events were more presentation style. We haven't been able to connect with new students yet! Half who came were first years so it was really nice getting to know them better!"

These moments of connection are what make our program so strong. Kudos to our students for taking the initiative to support one another!

What are your favorite ways to connect with your peers? Let us know in the comments!

Happy Veterans Day! Today, we honor all who have served and are currently serving, protecting our freedoms at home and abroad. We are especially proud to celebrate the student veterans within our own LSU School of Leadership & Human Resource Development community.

One such student is Justin Strickland, a graduating LHRD Senior and retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class. His journey is a powerful testament to dedication, service, and lifelong learning.

For 22 years, he represented our country with service in South Korea, Germany, and as a veteran of the Iraq War and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His LSU pride even traveled with him to Baghdad in 2003. He tells the story of watching the Tigers win the 2004 National Championship at 3 a.m. on a small TV, a moment of home while on deployment.

"Our Battery Commander purchased a cheap satellite and television from our Iraqi interpreter, who was able to procure these items from the local market. It received 3 channels, 2 Iraqi channels, and the British Broadcasting Channel."

After leaving LSU for the Army in 1997, Justin’s journey came full circle 29 years later. Now, he is back to finish what he started and will graduate this fall—truly embodying the spirit of an LSU Student Veteran.

Join us in celebrating his incredible journey and service, captured in these photos:
1️⃣ Celebrating at the 250th Army Ball, 2025
2️⃣ Baghdad, Iraq, 2003
3️⃣ Serving on Active Duty, 2016
4️⃣ Sharing his experience at his daughter's school for Veterans Day

Thank you to Justin and to all veterans for your immense sacrifice and service. Your courage and commitment inspire us all.
