LSU Proposed Undergraduate Minor in Delta Research

Louisiana students live in one of the most distinctive, complex, and culturally rich environments in the nation. How Louisiana successfully deals with its current coastal challenges will likely serve as a predictive model for what other coastal communities around the world can expect in the future. By nature of its geology and geography, Louisiana is compelled to be on the front lines of planning

and preparing for coastal sustainability today, providing valuable “lessons learned” for coastal communities around the world. Graduates of the proposed LSU Delta Research Minor will be uniquely prepared to face the complex challenges facing coastal Louisiana and similarly vulnerable coasts worldwide. Built around a collaborative “design thinking” methodology, the multidisciplinary, intercollegiate Delta Research Minor will focus on coastal issues and distinct but interrelated scientific, engineering, and design components.
