I have these moments where I step back and think, this is actually happening.

At the National Association of College and University Food Services Conference - in Philly and again in LA - it was the stopping and listening to the buzz in the room during our sessions. Incredible food service professionals sharing strategies, comparing challenges, asking hard questions, and working to better meet the needs of students with celiac disease and other dietary restrictions. The ‘wow, this is really happening’ moments.

In Philadelphia, I led a session again with Ashley Leone from Syracuse University on benchmarking inclusive dining - what great actually looks like, how you know if your systems are working, and how to make the great things schools are doing visible to students and families and consistent.

In Los Angeles, the focus shifted to creating a real seat at the table - what it takes to build environments where students with celiac disease and other dietary needs are not just accommodated, but fully supported. Where they thrive.

This is the second half of the mission of the Celiac College Guide.

Yes, we’re building a free, trusted directory for students and families.
But we’re also in rooms like these, helping shape how campuses improve what they do.

That only happens because of donations.

If you believe in this work - helping students not just choose colleges, but actually thrive once they get there - please consider making a donation or becoming a recurring supporter.

We are so grateful to all of the high school seniors who applied for our scholarship. What an amazing group! The Teen Advisory Board began the process of reviewing submissions. Thank you to all who took the time to share their stories with us. We are inspired by you and increasingly motivated to do this work.

A few weeks later, and I’m still thinking about (the Food Allergy Symposium for Industry) at Boston University.

Hosted by MenuTrinfo, it’s one of the few spaces where the people responsible for student safety in dining come together to learn, challenge each other, and actually improve practice.

Huge thank you to Betsy Craig and her team for creating something that drives real change, not just conversation.

This is exactly how The Celiac College Guide funds get put to work.

Yes, we’re building a trusted, free directory to help students and families make informed college decisions.

And we’re also getting into rooms like this to support and influence what’s actually happening on the ground.

At FASI, I had the opportunity to contribute in two meaningful ways:

• Led a full-day preconference, the Certified AllerTrainer Advanced Professional (CAAP) Opportunity, with Victor Konters from Sodexo, working with dietitians and dining leaders on how to facilitate adult learning in ways that go beyond “passing a test” and actually change behavior in real dining spaces

• Co-led a roundtable with Ashley Leone from Syracuse University, engaging campus dining leaders in a conversation about what great gluten-free support really looks like in practice

One of the highlights was getting to meet several of our incredible Celiac College Guide board members in person for the first time. Seeing them out there leading, influencing, and pushing this work forward across campuses was pretty special. Proud to be on a team with Betsy, Ashley, Joshua Miller and Kelli Wood - Regional Director from Aramark, MS, RD, LDN

FASI is what it looks like when the right people are in the room, committed to doing better for students.

Grateful to have been invited to be part of it.

Montclair State's University received a 5🌟 rating and we visited to see if we could figure out why.
A whole dining hall catering to serving healthy allergen friendly meals? ✅️
Choices? ✅️
A variety of desserts too ? ✅️
An attached teaching kitchen where you could learn make yourself an omelet or other food if you craved something different? ✅️
A beautiful design so this isn't just a place to be for kids with allergens but the place to be to eat healthy - allowing all to be included? ✅️
Amazing resources and advocates (and great sports) in Jennifer and Jessica? ✅️✅️
Thanks for a great visit and for all that you do for students with celiac and other dietary restrictions.

We wanted to share some great examples of the type of information you can read about in The Celiac College Guide. Thank you to these schools and all of the 40 new schools who have taken the time to share their approach to gluten free dining and support. Read about their approach to training, variety, safety and communication!

Know a college kiddo? Remind them to take just a few minutes to share their review of their experience

Know a high school senior with celiac? Make sure they know about the scholarship- a month left to get submissions in!
