**The Ohio State University President Gordon Gee to Address LSU Transition Advisory Team**

The Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee will address LSU’s Transition Advisory Team Tuesday, March 5, in the Abell Board Room of the Lod Cook Alumni Center. The Transition Advisory Team will meet from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Gee is widely considered one of the most highly experienced and respected leaders in higher education, having been named by Time Magazine as one of the top 10 university presidents in the country in 2009.

In addition to his service at Ohio State, he led Vanderbilt University from 2001 to 2007, Brown University from 1998-2000, the University of Colorado from 1985 to 1990 and West Virginia University from 1981 to 1985.

The Research & Discovery Sub-Committee of the LSU Transition Advisory Team met this morning at the LSU AgCenter. The meeting featured presentations from James Duderstadt, president emeritus of the University of Michigan, on current trends in research at American universities; from Steven B. Heymsfield, the executive director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, on research; and on metrics on research and technology transfer within the LSU System from Nicole Honoree, the LSU System’s director of research and economic development initiatives.

The Transition Advisory Team’s Academic Sub-Committee meets at 1 p.m.

The first meetings of the Task Force Groups of the Transition Advisory Team will take place Thursday, Feb. 21, in another step in the reshaping of LSU. All meetings will be streamed live via the Internet.

The Administrative Services Task Force will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, the Technology Task Force will meet from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the Revenue Generation Task Force will meet from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in room 214 of Efferson Hall at the LSU AgCenter and all meetings will be streamed live.

The Student Experience Sub-Committee of LSU’s Transition Advisory Team held its kickoff meeting Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Lod Cook Alumni Center at LSU.

The 12-member sub-committee, co-chaired by Carroll Suggs and Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, is composed of LSU students, alumni, administrators, academics, and administrative and business leaders.

Directly addressing the five students on the sub-committee in attendance at the meeting, Honoré said, “We are asked you to participate in this process to makes LSU stronger and more competitive because we know you are part of the solution.”

Over the next few weeks, the sub-committee will hear presentations from local and national university and business community leaders as well as testimony from students and parents to capture innovative input on how the university system can improve the student experience.

LSU’s Transition Advisory Team held their third meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Abell Board Room of the Lod Cook Alumni Center. The meeting was focused on the academic and research elements of the university, which are two parts of the three-fold mission of LSU, with the third being public service.

The Transition Advisory Team heard a presentation from a panel of internal subject matter experts to provide a better understanding of the academic and research missions of the university.

LSU’s Transition Advisory Team and one of its sub-committees, the Student Experience Sub-committee, will hold meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Abell Board Room of the Lod Cook Alumni Center. The Transition Advisory Team will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Student Experience Sub-committee will meet from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Two sub-committees of LSU’s Transition Advisory Team held a joint meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Lod Cook Alumni Center at LSU.

The Finance and Revenue and Operations and Technology sub-committees, composed of 31 individuals from multiple academic, administrative and business-oriented backgrounds, met, were tasked with their respective priorities and received a presentation from Huron Education Consultants. Huron Education is known for providing innovative and strategic transformation solutions to numerous universities nationwide.

G. Lee Griffin, co-chair of the Finance and Revenue sub-committee along with co-chair Clarence P. Cazalot, discussed the objectives of the committee and of the transition process that the LSU System is undergoing.

LSU’s Transition Advisory Team, a 10-member panel tasked with providing information to the LSU Board of Supervisors to facilitate the reshaping of the LSU System, held an Immersion Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 7, at the LSU Energy, Coast and Environment Building.

At the meeting, the team discussed the elements of a vision and basic tenets for LSU, which will form the foundation of the team’s first report to the Board of Supervisors in March.

In another significant step in the reshaping of the LSU System, more than 60 individuals have been invited to participate on five sub-committees designed to generate information in specific areas of focus that will ultimately lead to a more competitive and efficient LSU.

As part of the realignment process called LSU2015, each sub-committee will meet no less than three times in order to produce reports to LSU’s Transition Advisory Team which will assess the information and provide input to the LSU Board which holds all authority for the reorganization of the System. In some cases, expert testimony will be enlisted in the areas of focus to provide additional input to the sub-committees.

Sub-committee members were nominated by the chancellors of each campus in the LSU System and nominated by Dr. William Jenkins, interim president of the LSU System and interim chancellor of LSU. LSU’s Transition Advisory Team held its first meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the LSU System Building to receive information about its role, expectations and timeline from LSU Board of Supervisors Chairman Hank Danos and Interim LSU System President and LSU Chancellor William Jenkins.

The meeting served to launch LSU2015, a process designed to investigate best practices and develop recommendations for a vision and roadmap, which will be shared with the LSU board as they transform LSU to remain competitive and excel in the rapidly changing environment of higher education.
