History of Isaiah Lodge No. 28
There was a Lodge named Harmon Lodge No. 26 which met in Baton Rouge some years ago and from that Lodge some men decided to branch off and start their own Lodge in the Baton Rouge Community. So on June 5, 1976, United Most Worshipful King George Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. Jones issued a Warrant of Constitution to a new Lodge which we know now as Isaiah Lodge No. 28. Th
e Officers of said Lodge were Brother Clarence Taylor (Worshipful Master), Brother James Patterson (Senior Warden), Brother Leo Bradford (Junior Warden), Brother Frank Taylor (Secretary), Brother Bernard Spurling (Recording Secretary), Brother William Titus (Treasurer), Brother Rev. Willie Ross (Chaplain), Brother Leroy Robinson (Senior Deacon), Brother John Slan (Junior Deacon), Brother Jesse Butler (Tyler), Brother Eugene Bell (Senior Steward). Under the leadership of Brother Clarence Taylor, Isaiah Lodge No. 28 had their first Annual Family Day and Christmas Party. The second Worshipful Master was Brother Leo Bradford who was elected in 1978 and under his direction the Lodge grew leaps and bounds and became one of the most prominent Lodges in the Grand Lodge. Brother Leo Bradford was elected Grand Master of U.M.W. King George Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. in the early 1980’s and the leadership of Isaiah Lodge No. 28 went once again to Brother Clarence Taylor which made him also the third Worshipful Master of the Lodge. He held this position for another two years until ILL Brother Bernard Spurling 33° became the fourth Worshipful Master of the Lodge. During his leadership the Lodge continued do the work that was started years ago of it being a stable organization in the Community and State. After Brother Spurling term in office was over, ILL Brother Bishop Willie Ross, Sr. 33° was elected as the fifth Worshipful Master which he held for thirteen years until ILL Brother Willie Johnson, Jr. 33° was elected as the sixth Worshipful Master of the Lodge and he also kept up the good work of his predecessors, and in January of 2009 ILL Brother Eric Sims 33° became the seventh Worshipful Master of the Lodge. Brother Sims continue building Isaiah Lodge No. 28 stronger in our Community and State over the course of 3 wonderful years. In 2013 ILL Bernard Spurling 33° was once again elected Worshipful Master for a second term. During this 2 year tenure Bernard govern Isaiah lodge to write the first $500 check to purchase land for a temple to be built in Baton Rouge,la. Now in 2015 this great body of men is being governed by the ILL Ryan Brown 32° who is now the ninth worshipful master of this lodge.
