Societus Technica, the oldest student organization on the KCC campus, was founded in April of 1960 by student Harold Oswald and instructor, Dr. James Cook. The Tech Club is a social organization of like minded individuals with a general interest in technology, designed to promote social activities between students in addition to creating contacts for graduates. Throughout the academic year the clu
b raises funds through candy sales, pop can collection, and fund raising events like the Pumpkin Carving in the Student Center. The funds raised by the Tech Club go to at least three different activities. First, each year the Tech Club sponsors a family at Christmas time. We typically shop for the family and provide food and presents for their celebration. Secondly, the Tech Club historically has designed and constructed a Canned Food Sculpture for the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. In our 11 years competing in the Canned Food Sculpture contest, the Tech Club has won the Expert's Choice award four times for best design. Finally, the Tech Club usually takes an annual field trip. In the past we have gone to Toronto, Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Spring Green Wisconsin. Our trips typically involve architecture, technology, museums, and eating. The advisor for the Tech Club is Doug Mann, a CADD instructor at KCC. If you are interested in the Tech Club feel free to contact Mr.
