Our Humane Heroes: Animal Allies (Grades 6–8) campers had the opportunity this week to learn about compassion, animal advocacy, and the power of making a difference through the inspiring story of Gus, written by author Sandee Roquemore-Maxwell and highlighting the work of Houston K-911 Rescue.

We were also thrilled to welcome rescue dog Nola and her mom, Liz Haynes Requa. Meeting Nola and hearing her story helped bring these important lessons to life, reminding our campers that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact on animals in need.

A special thank you to Sandee Roquemore-Maxwell for sharing Gus's story, to Liz and Nola for spending time with our campers, and to KPRC2's Lisa Hernandez for helping shine a light on the importance of animal rescue and advocacy.

Playing tourists in Houston for the day with Lee College Senior Adult and Travel Program! From the bayou and EaDo to the underground tunnels and the Water Wall, we spent the day rediscovering all the reasons we love calling this city home. 🌇

At Kids at College (KAC), we know that play is more than just fun, it's one of the best ways children learn, grow, and build confidence. Through hands-on experiences, teamwork, creativity, and exploration, play helps children develop skills that last a lifetime.

Whether campers are building with LEGO®, creating art, exploring STEM concepts, learning sports fundamentals, coding, caring for animals, or discovering new interests, KAC camps are designed to make learning engaging, interactive, and fun!

This International Day of Play, we celebrate the curiosity, imagination, and joy that our campers bring to every activity. Thank you to our instructors, staff, and families for helping create meaningful experiences where children can learn through play all summer long.
