LATEST UPDATE: Wed., March 18
Dear Lee College Students,
We are facing an unprecedented time as the entire country is feeling the challenges associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Your safety, and that of our employees and community, remains our top priority.
As we continue to follow and learn more about the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with your safety in mind, we have made the decision to deliver courses virtually (or through alternative delivery) beginning March 23 until April 12, or until it is determined it is safe to resume normal course delivery. During this time, the college campus will remain closed to the general public.
All student support services will be provided remotely during this time. Accommodations will be made for students to use a computer lab and the Testing Center by appointment. We ask that you please continue to be patient and flexible as we work through all the complex issues surrounding this semester. It is like no other that any of us has experienced!
You should check the Blackboard system and your Lee College email daily for additional updates. We have also established the email address [email protected] to answer questions from the Lee College community.
We realize that this situation is quickly changing every day. College administration are in frequent contact with HCPH, the City of Houston Health Department, and surrounding cities to monitor the virus as it pertains to our region. The college will continue to follow recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and will assess any new information as it becomes available. The college will make informed decisions based on the facts received from local health department authorities.
As a reminder, WHO and CDC prevention guidelines include:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw any used tissue away immediately, and wash hands.
Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough.
If you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, seek medical care early, and share previous travel history with your health care provider.
Routinely clean all frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, countertops, and doorknobs. Use the cleaning agents that are usually used in these areas, and follow the directions on the label.
If you have not yet signed up for Rebel Alerts to receive voice and text messages from the college during an emergency situation such as COVID-19, now is a great time to do so. To sign up visit www.lee.edu/alerts/.
