Change
Change can be a wonderful thing. Especially when it's needed. And it's needed. To anyone who believes otherwise, I encourage you to ask yourself why do you think this way?
To people who counteract "Black lives matter" with "All lives matter". Yup. You're correct. They all matter. To point this out is unnecessary and myopic. You're missing the point. The point is that the playing field needs to be even. The idea that the second you're born, if you have a certain look, you have an advantage over someone who has a different look, is asinine at its very core. This is why we need change.
The country is burning. All over. Everywhere. And it should be. Change doesn't come easy; especially when the issues are nestled deep into our culture. All the way to the core. Undoing these issues won't be pretty, won't be easy, and is going to cause the country to turn on its side. And maybe that's what we need.
Diversity is a wonderful thing. The Earth is about 25000 miles in circumference; that's damn big. Huge. Go run a mile. Now run it 24,999 more times. Congrats, you just circumnavigated the Equator. And it probably took you years. In allllll that space, there exists billions upon billions of people. And where they live. So many countries, cities, towns, villages. Let's dive into a silly example, but if you had 100 million restaurants, what are the odds the best one is 10 minutes from you? Minuscule. Is anyone saying the pizza parlor down the street isn't great? No. It can be great. But so can one in other parts of the world. Two things can be great; the fact that one is closer to you doesn't make the other place any less great.
At its core, if you believe anyone that doesn't look like you is I don't know, less than you, at a lower level, or an equivalent, is absurd. And yet, this is what some believe. Many believe. And it's why change is needed. We're all humans. You're not better if you were born here, or born there. We are the same species. We bleed the same. If you feel you're better than someone because of how you look or where you were born, you need to take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Why do I think this?"
Diversity should be embraced. Not discouraged. If we have the power to make this happen, we need to. So do it. It's been a long time coming

So you know how we sell a billion cake toppers?
Alright. Maybe a wee bit less than billion. Whatever the number is, it's high. And of these toppers, the only topper, the only one, where the bride has wings? You guessed it.
No, not the True Romance topper. Ugh. You're not the best of guessers. It's this one! Look at the photo. If she were to flap those wings, the topper would fly away.
Or not. They'd simply crack off, since ya know, it's porcelain, and that stuff doesn't budge. We like to call this the Fantasy Knight couple, for reasons that should be obvious. Having a fantasy themed wedding? Gothic themed wedding? A wedding where you're wearing wings for some reason? Gotchu covered (boo).
If you're wondering what we changed on this couple right over here, well, the bride has some sweet dark red/brown locks. The sweetest. And would you believe the groom's brown socks? Yep. They weren't brown before. They are now. Since we slapped paint on 'em. So much paint.

Alrighty then.
So my last football topper post was about the XFL. And um. Well, ya see. What ha-happened was...😩
Don't worry, they'll be back in 19 years for version 3.0. But for the American football fans of leagues that haven't folded, this topper is for you. Looking at this picture makes me want some ice cubes and a caffeinated beverage.
Back when we were permitted to leave our homes(alright, we still are), I took this couple on a warm backpack ride, only to immerse them into the frozen temperatures abruptly. I believe they've forgiven me(it's been nearly 2 months, so hopefully? Pretty please), so here we are.

Since everyone's at home with their families now and definitely enjoy every. single. second. of it.
Every second.
What better way to celebrate this then with a family portrait? While P!nk may not be in the living room boasting out some family portrait vocals, our cake topper family is certainly having a quarantine party.

Winter!
Remember winter? What was that, like, 8 months ago or something? Only a few if you look at a calendar, but I'm going with 8 months today.
Reminding you about winter today is our ever picturesque Mr & Mrs Ampersand couple topper. They were able to cooperate with their outgoing photographer(hi) to get to this spot a few miles into the woods.
Thanks to perspective, this icicle looks much much, much more epic than it actually was. Doesn't it appear about 30 feet tall or something? That would make our topper a bit taller than the 5.4" they are. And you probably aren't interested in a 4 foot topper on your cake. If so, well we don't have that, but certainly send us some photos, as that sounds like one helluva cake.

So throwback Tuesday.
I was scrolling through my phone, looking for an older customized topper photo. I figured why not, let's go way the f back. So we're in November of 2018 here. And I came across our dear old couple, the Mature "Still in Love" couple. You'll see our bride with some light to medium colored hair.
I feel like this will be all of us once this pandemic is over.
Too soon?
Okay, that's a far stretch. But it is a reminder that we can celebrate our fellow persons that have been around a little longer than most. If you're finding new love in the latter part of life, or if you're renewing your vows, you'll want this topper. And as we continue to believe, we will be able to celebrate and congregate with each other at parties, weddings, and other places where people congregate. Box socials? Sure. Whoops.
Looks like our couple took a little dip in the Hudson.
Dip again? No, no Romantic Dip for a change(Maybe next week. Tune in...next week).
Gettin' wet on is our retro couple, the Indie Style, standing amongst some tidal waves. If you look closely, the rock looks a bit like New York. And where is our couple standing? In the Hudson Valley of course.
As we've been saying, this blasted pandemic won't last forever. And certainly weddings probably aren't on your mind now(pssst: they're illegal now). But when they're not illegal. That damn dip is always making an appearance in these pics.
Don't worry, this photo was taken well before the corona, so no couples were infected in the making of this photo. Always practice social distancing; porcelain figurines are no different.
The ones I bring along during hikes and subject to the freezing winds would beg to differ. Anywell, having a now banned congregation today are two of the more popular toppers we sell, which you've probably deduced.
Out in front and showing off their 3 months of dancing classes(although you'd think they'd have done something more fancy than a dip after 12 weeks of classes, but like Planet Fitness, this is a judgement free zone) is the dipping couple; I made his hair a dark brown.
Bringing up the caboose on the cake is the love pinch topper(pinching off camera). In changes that definitely did not take me hours to complete(editor's note: they did, but worth it), we now have a medium skin toned groom and a bride with a light ivory dress sporting a light pink bouquet and hair flower. Easy peasy navel orange squeezey. Or is it lemon? Lime? Who knows
It's lemon.
We know weddings are temporarily banned, but there will be a time in the future when we can all congregate! And celebrate! And when this happens, everyone can get married again(unless you're already married...then um...well you probably need to have a discussion with your partner🤷), but everyone else can! Let's hope this time is soon
