On Tuesday, March 5, 2013 we gathered for an ASID meeting on campus.
We nominated leadership positions for Lamar's ASID student body. Those positions are as follows:
2 Co-Presidents: Victoria & Amin
Secretary: Kaleena Lamb
Treasurer: Vicky Rayes
Ambassador: Sandra Pascua
All new student members must register with ASID ($60/year) in order to participate in the off-campus functions that are hosted by ASID.
Understandably some students cannot afford the $60 as of right now, but please try and get your membership as soon as you are able so that we can all benefit from the society's resources.
Dr. Thompson joined the meeting to discuss some additional benefits that our organization can be eligible for through the FCS department. The flyer with the information about the criteria potential small scholarship is posted in the Studio room along with these minutes from the last ASID meeting.
There is an upcoming ASID function on March 22, 2013. It's a Student Showcase that includes a Student Design Competition, Interviews, "Speed Dating" with local professionals, and a NCIDQ Information Workshop. We encourage for all student members to attend this function, as there will be lots of opportunities to meet and speak with area Design Firms. Some students will need to carpool with others to attend. We ask that all interested in going let your fellow students know so that driving arrangements can be made. Anyone interested in going to this function needs to become an ASID member, and RSVP by March 15th, 2013 (Friday of Spring Break).
We will be working on setting up another meeting for after Spring Break some time to discuss any new questions, and also get together to decide on anything extra we can do around the department as well as around campus to recruit new students into Lamar's ASID student organization.
