This DAY in Geneva history... “Undoubtedly the most elaborate, colorful, and thrilling spectacle in the history of the College...”

On May 27-29, 1948 a centennial pageant depicting Geneva’s history was held in Reeves Stadium. “Geneva Through the Years” consisted of 16 historical episodes, with gorgeous costumes and scenery.

The event included:
The May Queen and her court
Westinghouse bagpipe band of Pittsburgh and Scotch sword dancers
Beaver Valley high school bands
Campfires, horses, and covered wagons

As a grand finale, the entire cast formed the hub and spokes of an immense wheel which seemed to revolve before a lighted cross. A marvelous firework display concluded with a replica of Old Main set off to the alma mater.

Dodransbicentennial (175th) celebrations were held just a couple of years ago in 2023!

Cat Qi '28 is completing her second year of college, but fondly remembers her first weeks at Geneva. “It was just really fun,” she says. “I had that freshman energy in me and I wanted to try anything and everything. I went to all the events I could and fully enjoyed the life of starting over again.”

Now, as she closes her studies in her sophomore year, Cat describes the joy of entering more fully into her field and preparing to finish her music classes. “Everything is deeper and more astonishing and mind-blowing, so it’s a different type of happiness. It’s a more subtle happiness.”
