It was great spending time with the Jim Wells County Rotary and connecting with State Representative J.M. Lozano and so many local community leaders.

I’m grateful for organizations like Rotary that continue to bring people together in service to their communities. I also enjoyed catching up with longtime supporters of Coastal Bend College like Newell Atkinson III.

At CBC, we know strong partnerships and strong relationships create more opportunities for our students and the communities we serve. Proud to keep building those connections across the Coastal Bend! 💙🐾

Thank you to Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend for the opportunity to serve as keynote speaker for the 2026 YOU Choose Career Expo.

It was a privilege to share a message with more than 1,800 students about opportunity, perseverance, and believing in where their own path can take them.

Coastal Bend College is proud of our continued partnership with Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend and the work we are doing together to connect education, careers, and opportunity for students throughout our region.

Thank you for the partnership and for continuing to invest in the future of our students and communities.

Exciting things are ahead for Coastal Bend College students!

Through support from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s SSAP 3.0 grant, CBC is launching a new Career Development Office this fall.

Our goal is simple: connect students with career exploration, employers, internships, work-based learning, and the preparation they need to enter the workforce career ready.

At CBC, our work does not stop at graduation. We are preparing students for what comes next.

BIG NEWS for Coastal Bend College!

CBC has officially received award notices for both of our Talent Search grants for Alice and Beeville as part of the most recent federal grant competition!

These awards represent an important continued investment in the students and communities we serve. Through Talent Search, CBC helps students prepare for, access, and pursue postsecondary education, expanding pathways to college and career opportunities throughout our region.

This work is at the heart of our mission. We are meeting students where they are, helping them see what is possible, and creating pathways that can change the trajectory of their lives and families.

This is what Creating Bold Circumstances is all about: expanding opportunity, strengthening communities, and helping students realize that higher education is within their reach.

A tremendous win for coastal bend region students, our communities, and Coastal Bend College!

Great visit today with the students and leadership at Kaufer Early College High School!

I appreciated the opportunity to spend time with Director Arredondo, visit with students, and talk about how we can continue strengthening the partnership between Kaufer ECHS and Coastal Bend College.

The tables throughout the school tell the story well. Our schools and communities are coming together around one shared purpose: creating greater opportunities for students.

We value our partnership with Kaufer ECHS and are excited about its continued growth. I look forward to expanding CBC’s presence in the Riviera community and finding new ways to support students as they pursue their educational and career goals.

Great things happen when we work together for our students! 💚💙

Coastal Bend College is honored to receive the 2026 Top Colleges for Innovation Award from Insight Into Academia magazine, the nation’s longest-running publication advancing best practices in higher education.

This national recognition reflects the bold work taking place across Coastal Bend College to expand opportunity, strengthen workforce pathways, support rural communities, and remove barriers for students throughout South Texas.

From the Coastal Bend Promise Program and Cougar to Jaguar Rural Scholars Pathway to new workforce-aligned academic programs, transfer partnerships, and student success initiatives, this award recognizes a college community committed to innovation with purpose.

Most importantly, this recognition belongs to our faculty, staff, students, trustees, and community partners whose work continues to transform lives across the region.

At Coastal Bend College, innovation is not simply about new ideas, it is about creating meaningful opportunities and bold circumstances for students and communities we proudly serve.

Coastal Bend College is proud to be featured in the April/May 2026 issue of the Community College Journal, published by the American Association of Community Colleges, highlighting our Cougar to Jaguar Rural Scholars Pathway in partnership with South Texas College.

This model challenges a common assumption in higher education: transfer does not equal access. For rural students, true bachelor’s attainment requires more than credit articulation. It requires affordability, advising continuity, and shared institutional accountability.

The Cougar to Jaguar pathway was intentionally designed to align governance, financial structure, and student support to create a predictable and sustainable route to completion.

If you are thinking about transfer, rural student success, or the future of community college baccalaureate pathways, this is a conversation worth engaging.
