Bellevue College Workforce Education Our programs help people (low income) get the skills they need to enter or re-enter the workforce.

Funding Programs:

•BFET (Basic Food Employment & Training) Program: Funding for individuals receiving Food Stamps

•Opportunity Grant: Funding for low income adults with little or no college experience

•Worker Retraining: Funding for individuals who are:
◦currently receiving unemployment (UI) or exhausted their UI in the last 24 months *OR*
◦recently laid off *OR*
◦displaced homemakers *OR*
◦fo

rmerly self-employed but lost their business to economic factors in the community *OR*
◦recent honorably discharged unemployed veterans

•WorkFirst: Funding for TANF parents

Families residing in King County and receive benefits from DSHS (cash, food or medical assistance) are eligible to receive toys for children in their care. They do not need to apply or pre-register. All they need to do is attend one of the distribution events. The distribution event schedule is published on the Toys for Tots web site located at:

Lights display and light sculptures of animals and local landmarks such as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Northern Lights Holiday Bizarre
When: Thursday December 8th 2pm-8pm
Where: Swedish Cultural Center 1920 Dexter Avenue N
An afternoon and evening of holiday shopping and fun with family and friends! There will be amazing vendors, an art show, raffle prizes, kid's craft & activities station, happy hour open to close, hors d'oeuvres, free tote bags (courtesy of Little One Books), and more!
Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration

Candy Cane Lane
When: December 10th- December 31st
Where: N.E. Park Road, off 20th Avenue N.E. and Ravenna Boulevard., Seattle; nightly
Candy Cane Lane in the Ravenna Neighborhood: Neighbors on this quaint, looping street have been decorating for the holidays since 1950. Drive – or, for more fun, stroll – along the street, starting with the familiar mechanical carousel in the traffic circle. Santa may be there on weekends, handing out candy canes. See how many “peace” signs in various languages you can see on the front lawns of many of the houses.
Garden d’Lights Bellevue Botanical Garden
When: Nov. 26 - Dec. 31;
Where: Bellevue Botanical Garden: 124th Avenue N.E. and Main Street
Every year this mind-boggling, walk-through display of lights includes more – critters as well as fantastical flowers. This year, the extended walk passes a river of lights and four waterfalls. Can your children find: a frog, a spider, a pulsing jellyfish, a huge slug, a peacock, an octopus and the new “Snap d’Dragon Free nights are Nov. 28, 29 and 30, Dec. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 (other nights it’s $5, children 10 and younger free, 5 to 10 p.m.; www.gardendlights.org.

The Macy's Holiday Parade
When: November 25th
Where: On the corner of 7th and Pine
On the corner of 7th and Pine, and will travel west down Pine to 5th Avenue, south on 5th to University Street, west on University to 4th and north on 4th before concluding at the front Macy's Department Store.

Be sure to come back later in the day for the official lighting of the famous Macy's Star at 4:45 PM, followed by an awesome fireworks display.

Sheraton Seattle's Gingerbread Village

Winter Wonderland, Pacific Place

Seattle Center Winterfest

Who can resist the choo-choo trains puffing through those carefully crafted buildings and miniature hills and forests on the Center House floor? Winter Train and Village

When: Nov. 25 – Dec. 29, 10am – 6pm
Where: Center House- Seattle Center

A Winterfest crowd favorite, a turn-of- the-century village and train. Members of the public can take a turn at driving the miniature locomotive between 10:30am – 12 noon, 1pm – 2:30pm and 3:30pm – 5:30pm daily. Snowflake Lane Bellevue

Where: Bellevue Way and N.E. 8th Street,
Sixty drummer boys and girls in red stand stock still on giant drum pedestals. Then the drummers dismount and march down the street playing, as throngs of us on the sidewalk join the carolers accompanying them. Lights move in dizzying snow patterns, confetti falls, and it feels like Mardi Gras with mittens. If kids need to work off some energy, visit the recently-remodeled huge enclosed play area on the top floor of Bellevue Square. Pike Place Market Holiday Magic
When: Saturday, November 26 - 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Where: Pike Place Market
Join us for our annual holiday kickoff filled with an afternoon of festive music and a visit from Santa. Holiday lights adorning the Market's buildings and trees will be turned on at 5:00 p.m. Celebrate the start of the holiday season!
Holiday Photos with Santa
Santa will appear under the Market clock in front of the Market's vintage farmtruck. Take your own holiday photo at this picturesque Seattle spot! 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Gift Wrapping
Shop from local artists and craftspeople in the North Arcade--or from any of our hundreds of unique specialty shops, then have your gifts wrapped by the Market Foundation for a suggested $5 donation. They'll be located on Pike Place near the North Arcade entrance under a white tent from 1:00 - 5:00 p
Festive Music
Along with the sounds of our own Market buskers, enjoy the Dickens Carolers as they stroll the Market in their Victorian attire in the mid-afternoon. At 4:30, they'll appear under the Market clock.
Holiday Lights- Join us under the clock at 5:00 p.m. for our annual holiday lighting. Lights along our buildings and on our large tree will be turned on for the season. It's the most beautiful time of the year in the Market!
