This group had a phenomenal first year, and wished to further extend their love for the South Asian Culture. In 2004 the name of the group was changed to SASA in order to welcome more diversity into the group, which was first intended for Indians. Over the years SASA has raised awareness about the South Asian community on campus and around town, through various events and socials. SASA is the foun
der of the annual WWU International Night. The first International Night was hosted by SASA and turned out to be a much larger success than intended. The following year SASA handed over the responsibility for the International Night to the Ethnic Student Center (ESC). Since then the ESC hosts an international night each year in the Spring. Which is filled with performances from various cultures and clubs on campus and is a showcase for the community members to come and experience. SASA has come a long way from when it started in 1994 and hopes to keep growing in the many years to come. We hope to raise awareness about the South Asian Culture on campus and around the community. We strive to host annual events and discussion panels through the year in order to get ourselves out into the Western and neighboring communities. Current 2011 - 2012 Board Members:
