What began in January 2015 as a practical learning experience for students in Heather Davidson's COMM306 (Conference and Event Planning) and COMM308 (Communication in Fundraising) courses has now become a full-fledged ongoing effort to raise funds in support of WWU students. Using an "accessible philanthropy" model designed , the inaugural WeAreWWU crew gleaned many small con

tributions in support of their University peers and developed a scholarship fund for WWU students. The first application cycle will open April 2016, offering $1500 to its first recipient. The inaugural effort brought in enough money to fund multiple scholarships after a very successful fundraising event May 31, 2015 and a subsequent event in May of 2016. Each course Heather teaches continues to integrate students into the support and building of the campaign, and the money raised each year supports efforts which enrich the educational experience for the Western Community.
