The English Department is gearing up for the new school year--classes start on Monday--and there's some good news to share: the BW English Licensure program has been once again nationally accredited by NCATE, the national accreditation organization for teacher education programs.

Adjunct faculty member Kevin Keating won the Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction in the 2013 LA Times Book Prizes for his collection of short stories, The Natural Order of Things. Congratulations to Mr. Keating!

Dr. Oldrieve's Chaucer class went on a pilgrimage earlier this semester, walking from Berea through the Metroparks, down Lorain Ave., and over the Carnegie bridge to the final stops of St. John the Evangelist and Trinity Cathedrals. The trip took two days and covered 22-24 miles. Along the way, they had a medieval feast, told tales, and were regaled by tales from Drs. Evans, Martin, Boe, and Garriga.

The picture included here is the class saying the rosary just before going into St. John the Evangelist near the end of the trip.
