🎓Attention, scholars! Check out the IEAS Undergraduate Research Award program!
✏️This program supports juniors and sophomores who are interested in pursuing research opportunities related to East Asia and Southeast Asia with a particular focus on Humanities and Social Science, such as in preparation for a senior thesis or other major capstone project. Award recipients will be required to submit a full paper (10-15 pages, double spaced) on their proposed research topic on or before April 1, 2027.

🚢How did depictions of geography inform the understanding of early modernity?

Join us in Professor S.E. Kile's special lecture: Sea and Sky as Media in Early Modern Chinese Fiction! This talk will cover novels such as 海遊記 and 常言道, the terms they use to describe travel by sky and by sea, and how this relates to the conception of the earth in early modern Chinese thought.
