The Undergraduate Economics Association exists as the extracurricular artery for the economics community at Cal. We provide a social venue for exploring the field in an effort to promote camaraderie between students in the major and in other departments, and expose students to careers in the praxis of the discipline. We have had members and have had officers studying Economics, Business Administra

tion, Mathematics, Political Science, Political Economy, and many other disciplines. Our numerous workshops, receptions, lectures, and educational forums help students get the most out of economics course offerings and learn how they can better pursue future careers in the field of economics.

"The people in UEA are a hilarious, and incredibly inspiring and hardworking bunch. Through UEA, I have found amazing friends, role models, and so much more!My first retreat, in Spring 2020, was a ton a fun! This was my first time meeting a majority of UEA people and everyone was super nice and welcoming, and made me feel at home. "

Meet the Co-chair of our new Corporate Relations Committee, Rina Rossi! Here's a little bit about her:

Favorite thing/memory about UEA

"My favorite thing about UEA is the community and the support that members and the board provide. I always ask my fellow UEA members and officers about course advice, internship opportunities, research, etc, and they are always happy to help. I also love how UEA members have very diverse interests outside of academics, and it's very inspiring see them all work hard in
their personal projects. My favorite memory from UEA was the Fall Economic Salon, where I presented my research on the feminization of poverty and unemployment in Russia. As a political economy major, this salon gave me the opportunity to showcase how economics is tied with history, as well as political trends. I was also asked very compelling questions from audience members who inspired me to think critically about my presentation."

Favorite Ice Cream
"I'm not an ice cream person 😬—but matcha flavor always gets a pass! ☺"

Hobbies?
"I love writing! I also like to watch films, blog, cook, dance, listen to Bossa Nova & jazz, and design clothes."

Happy Friday everyone! We are excited to introduce some of our officers starting off with our co-president, Isabel Zavian. Here are few things about her and her time in UEA.

Favorite thing/memory of UEA:
"I love how the UEA offers so many different resources and opportunities for members and has such a supportive, fun, and hardworking community. My favorite UEA memory is our in-person officer banquet. I really enjoyed spending time with all of my close friends/the officer team at the end of the semester!"

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:
"Either cookie dough or anything with peanut butter even though I'm slightly allergic to nuts 😆"

Favorite Place to Study on Campus:
"Caffé Strada!"

Hobbies:
I love to play tennis, paint, bake/cook, and watch Formula 1!

A: UEA is amazing at integrating the fun enjoyable parts of a community while also being incredibly valuable for its members.

Q: What has your experience with consulting committee been like?
A: Being a part of the consulting committee has been absolutely amazing since I get the opportunity to interact with really cool people, work with exciting companies, and do awesome projects!

Meet our Academic Affairs External Chair: Claire Stotts
Major: Economics
Year: Sophomore

What do you think makes UEA unique?
UEA is unique because of its structure. We have three committees which each help you build different skills and explore different aspects of economics. You can really choose how invested you want to be in the club based on our tier system. I’ve been a part of 2 out of the 3 committees. UEA is also a super welcoming community with people of all backgrounds.

Q: How has UEA helped you professionally?
By joining UEA I got the chance to be a part of a great community at Berkeley. It helped me assimilate into college life, and it made me more confident and that has helped me professionally. On the technical side I got a better understanding of how the recruitment process works through resume workshops and interviewing tips.

Q: What do you think makes UEA unique?
A: I joined UEA because I wanted to be involved in the Econ community on campus, but I stayed because the people in the club are the perfect mix of work hard / play hard, which makes it really easy to have fun with them whether it’s spring break or dead week

Q: How has UEA helped you professionally?
A: UEA has helped me grow professionally by teaching me about recruiting and by allowing me to hone my consulting and leadership skills!
