Every February, Black History Month celebrates the achievements and history of African Americans. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today. Learning about the history of systemic racism during Black History Month in the mental health system and movement and how it harms Black communities in the US and around the world is key for creating a mentally healthier world.
