Meet your BOTB feature: Valentina De Roca Fuerte!

A poet, co-organizer of RichOak Alchemy Poetry Slam & the Oakland Slam, and lover of empanadas y reggeton . Born in Bogotá Colombia, raised in the DMV and the Pacific NorthWest, she carries all of these places with her. She has been published in Oaklands' Undertone Magazine & will be studying Art Politics in the Fall at the NYU Tisch School of Arts. Her words and work are motivated by her need to write through brown immigrant woman's problemas & pain. She believes there is where we find our own power to fight back and remind ourselves of our brilliance.

ICYMI: We're so grateful to everyone who has donated to our campaign thus far! There are just 10 more days left to give. Thank you to all of our 59 donors thus far - we are beyond humbled to reach this level of support from our community.

This is the first year that the UC has instated a state-wide boycott on Texas due to the state's anti-LGBT laws. Unfortunately, this means that our team of majority QTPOC poets is unable to receive any university funding for our travel and lodging costs to CUPSI 2019. As a result, CalSLAM is relying entirely on community support. We have a wide array of perks for donors ranging from personalized poems to CUPSI livestreams. You can check them out on our campaign page! Please consider giving today to support our team -- even sharing our campaign on social media will help us so much!
