You wouldn’t introduce your best friend with a script. So why does introducing people to Jesus feel like one?

A group of Andrews University students just started talking to people. Not pitching, not reciting anything, actual conversations. Sometimes it’s over coffee. Sometimes it’s a five-minute chat that turns into something longer.

Jesus isn’t someone you mention once and move on from. He’s the friend who takes whatever you’re carrying, the stuff you don’t say out loud, and makes it new.

Save this for the next time you don’t know how to bring Him up. Tag someone you’d love to introduce Him to.

Week in Pictures: September 4, 2026.

University Convocation 🎓
The Andrews community kicked off the school year at Pioneer Memorial Church on Aug. 27. Administrators, faculty, and student leaders spoke, and we dedicated the year to God. Refreshments at the Flag Mall followed.

New Student Orientation Week
Family Groups bonded through games and activities. New students hit assemblies, pop-up experiences, transfer orientation, and outdoor vespers on Aug. 21. PMC's Welcome Potluck on Aug. 22 kept everyone fed.

Celebrating Mark Moreno & Denis Fortin 👏
Mark Moreno was honored Aug. 24 for his years in Architecture & Interior Design. Denis Fortin's retirement celebration took place on Aug. 25, following his long tenure as a professor of historical theology and as former Seminary dean.

Honors Buddy Lunch 🍽️
New Honors students met their upperclassmen mentors over lunch on Aug. 28.

Proximity Vespers
Returning students gathered on Friday, Aug. 28. Chaplain Prescott Khair spoke on "Laying the Foundation."

Sabbath Moments
A baptism at PMC's second service on Aug. 29. The community signed a new commitment for the year.

The NEST 🎉
SILA brought the party to Johnson Gym on Saturday night, Aug. 29.

Volleyball 🏐
The team faced Malcolm X on Aug. 30. Next home game: Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Andreasen Center.

A new semester always comes with plans, goals, and expectations. But it also comes with challenges we can’t always see coming.

That’s why we begin together.

At the University Convocation, students, faculty, and staff gathered to dedicate this new semester to God. President John Wesley Taylor V reminded us that standing firm doesn’t mean we won’t face difficult moments; it means knowing where our strength comes from when they arrive.

We trust God. We keep learning. We keep moving forward.

Because at Andrews, we’re not only preparing students to become what they want to be. We’re preparing them to stand firm in faith, wherever life takes them. 💙

Orientation Week is HERE (Aug. 17–23)! New students and their families kicked things off at First Stop on Monday, Aug. 17, in the Andreasen Center for Wellness.
