Wood Acres, Bethesda, Md The Wood Acres community in Bethesda, Maryland is a neighborhood full of kids and dogs. The Wood Acres Citizens' Association has been active since the 1960's.

Wood Acres is a community of about 450 families full of children and dogs. Our kids attend Wood Acres Elementary School, Pyle Middle School and one of the best public high schools in the nation - Walt Whitman High School. There are a wide range of community events including the Easter Egg Roll, the Jog Fest in May and the annual 4th of July parade now in its 60th year. Halloween is one of the most

special nights of the year with the arrival of the Great Pumpkin with hundreds of children able to trick or treat on blocked off roads. Santa Claus arrives every holiday season on the back of a GEFD fire truck. The Jingle Bells Dog walk now in its eight year is a new neighborhood tradition and is held on the first weekend of December just as Christmas inflatables start popping up on neighborhood lawns. The families on Wood Acres Drive led by Joe Payne have held a block party for past 20 years and in 2017 the community association held the first Wood Acres Beer Festival to raise $$ for the 4th of July parade. To survive the pandemic we have held pop up concerts all through the summer and have had numerous food trucks come to Wood Acres every week. We live in a great location just 5 minutes from the Glen Echo Park and the Westbard shopping center, 10 minutes from the Spring Valley shopping center and just a short ride up River Road and the Beltway to the Westfield Mall and Home Depot. However, if there is ever a nuclear attack on D.C. we're toast because the National Intelligence University campus is a just mile away. Other then that we live in a very happy community.

The Wood Acres Annual Easter Egg Hunt is a few weeks away! Join us on Saturday, April 19th at 9:30am at Wood Acres Park for a fun egg hunt and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny! This year we will have a separate area for little ones (5 and under) and even more eggs (including golden eggs!). Refreshments and treats to follow. We hope to see you then!

The annual Great Pumpkin "drive" around the neighborhood will take place from 6:pm to 6:20pm. Thank you Vic Waye and Jonathan Sachs. Listen for the fire siren. We will start by heading down Newburn Drive
Welborn Drive is closed to all traffic from 6pm to 8:30pm from Gloster Road to the Triangle (Welborn and Ramsgate). All cross streets will be barricaded. Keep the kids safe.
Our PERMIT # is 89447. The permit does allows adults to carry alcoholic beverages
The Great PUMPKIN will be escorted down Welborn Drive between 6:20 and 6:30pm by the GEFD and give out candy at the Triangle starting at 6:30pm
We are still seeking volunteers to help the Great Pumpkin give out candy at the Triangle. Offering SSL hours as well. If you can give us 30 minutes it would be helpful. contact Kevin at [email protected]
We will have entertainers on Welborn Drive. A big thank you to all the residents on Welborn who go out of their way to make this a special night

A group of neighbors have banded together to Host a fundraiser for Vice President Harris on Wednesday, October 9th at 7pm

We're not big high rollers every dollar helps from $50 to $100 to $250. We will have campaign signs, buttons, stickers to give away as well.
