Big changes are coming to Education at UNE, but before we look ahead, we want to properly say goodbye to someone who has meant so much to all of us.
After nearly 15 years as Education faculty at UNE, Carol Marcotte is hanging up her (very stylish) hat and heading into a well-earned retirement.
Carol came to us already shaped by a meaningful career in K-12, and she brought every bit of that heart with her. She has been our loudest cheerleader, our steadiest presence, and one of the most genuinely student-first people we’ve ever had the privilege of working alongside. Whether it was getting her students over the finish line at graduation at the last minute, finding internship placements at the drop of a hat, or spending countless hours advising students at her little round table, Carol has embodied a “student first” philosophy and our students and faculty are better for it.
Fun fact: Carol was adjuncting with us back when “online learning” meant DVDs arriving in your mailbox! You can imagine the changes she has been around to see at UNE, and she has navigated them all with grace and professionalism.
And lucky for us, this isn’t completely goodbye; Carol will be continuing on as an adjunct in our online program.
Carol, thank you for pouring so much of yourself into this work and into our students. We are better for having you.
Enjoy that Florida sunshine and every single moment of what comes next. You’ve more than earned it!
