The Broadcast Engineering Minor at Ferris State was created to prepare graduates for careers supporting broadcasting of all kinds. We heard through discussions with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and with TDMP alumni across the country, of the dire need that exists now for newly trained professionals who can support the increasingly network-dependent signal flow that broadcasts depend on. Pursuing this minor will put a graduate in high demand. Check out the link below for more information.

Broadcast engineers support the backbone of television and radio stations across the country. This degree minor prepares students with a basic skillset that will be marketable for graduates. Broadcast engineers keep broadcast stations on the air, which is critical for local and regional stations and...

At the start of the semester, our seniors hit the ground running—producing a new Mancino’s pizza commercial from concept to final cut.

We captured behind-the-scenes footage during production, and this reel highlights that process, leading into the final commercial itself.

It’s a great look at how our students move from planning and shooting to a polished final product.

On Friday, April 10, we celebrated the SDM Ferris Media Festival 2026!

First, thank you to everyone who contributed to One Day for Dawgs. Because of your support, we raised over $1,300 to directly benefit TDMP students.

The festival featured guest speakers Courtney Stickels, Shawn Deweerd, and Aaron Villarreal, who shared valuable insights with our students.

Attendees enjoyed a full day of networking, a welcoming atmosphere, professional headshots, and the opportunity to view student work submitted for awards—including voting for the People’s Choice selection.

Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!
