2020 FSU WELDING COMPETITION CANCELLED: Due to the uncertain outcome of the Coronavirus pandemic and how it will affect our faculty, staff and students and their education here at Ferris State University, we have decided to cancel this year's welding competition that was scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2020.

Leadership Symposium:
This is an all expense paid trip for the candidates selected!

Adult Section Volunteers: An adult from our District will be selected to attend. Get information to me if you are interested or your recommendations as soon as you have someone in mind. The web site for applications is:

Student Leaders: In addition and we can nominate one student from a school to attend. Please go to the web site and follow the instructions. We did not have any applicants for 2019, whereas for 2017 and 2018 we had a student attend.

Applications for National, District, and Section Scholarships Now Open The online application system, scholarship.aws.org, opened December 1st for National, District, and Section Scholarships. Students will have the opportunity to fill out one master application for any National, District, or Section Scholarships they are eligible for. The deadline to apply is March 1st for scholarships to be used the following fall term.

The Ferris State welding program had a great turnout of students receiving scholarships from the American Welding Society. The students went down to Oakland Community College to celebrate with and say thanks to the Detroit Section members. It was a great night! Not to mention the number of other students from all over Michigan who also received scholarships.
