Ferris State Lgbtq+ Resource Center The LGBTQ+ Resource Center at Ferris State University provides programming, education, and a safer place for all sexual orientations and gender identities.

This Center, located in the University Center, serves to foster a supportive environment that is open, safe, and inclusive for students of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. The Center’s objective is to celebrate and affirm LGBTQ+ people, identities, and communities; to sup

port the development of LGBTQ+-sensitive and -accountable personal and professional skills among the Ferris community; and to to support and advocate for, and with, members of the LGBTQ+ community for an equitable, inclusive culture at Ferris State University that celebrates and values LGBTQ+ people. The Resource Center has a lending resource library funded in part by the Diversity & Inclusion Staff Mini-Grant; runs support/discussion groups for bi/pan/fluid students, trans and nonbinary students, asexual and aromantic spectrum students, and QTBIPOC students; provides the Ferris community with educational and cultural events; maintains a list of information and referrals to resources; advocates for and assists students in navigating the university and achieving their goals; provides trainings and workshops to develop Ferris community members' professional and cultural competencies around working for gender and sexuality justice; maintains a donations-based closet of clothing, binders, makeup, and other gender transition resources for transgender community members; holds networking and social events; and collaborates with diversity and equity working groups and with campus and community partners to make Ferris a welcoming and affirming place for all members of the LGBTQ+ and ally community.

Donations in the past have enabled us to show up and make a daily difference within our LGBTQ+ student community. From helping supply our students with much needed gender affirming supplies, setting up unique events to bring our community together in support and celebration, to making it possible for our student employees and professional staff to participate and network with colleges and communities across the state and beyond. Our supporters make a small part of our world and our lives safe and supportive for the LBGTQ+ community, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
As April 9th is fast approaching, we are hoping you’d be able to continue showing your support! Donations made to our Resource Center go a long way by helping us with things like:
The cost of operations, supplies, and upkeep for our office space.
Hosting our staple LGBTQ+ events on campus like Drag Bingo, Drag Trivia, and our graduate’s Lavender Celebration.
Supporting the Malik Kingsby Endowed Scholarship, which awards financial aid to students that have faced adversity due to their race, gender, or sexual orientation in their lives.
Travel expenses for our Resource Center staff to travel to Pride events, conferences, and other functions that provide essential community organization, professional training, and experiential learning.
And much, much more!
All donations we receive, no matter the size, help us achieve our goal to provide for our LGBTQ+ student body in ways that make a personal and significant difference in their time on our campus.
