May 20th is World Bee Day, and MECC is grateful to have a new pollinator garden on campus thanks to retired Professor Emeritus Chris Allgyer.

Chris, a Master Naturalist, donated plants selected specifically chosen to help our region's bee, butterfly, and insect population. With the installation of this new garden, MECC hopes to be designated as a Homegrown National Park, a movement to help regenerate biodiversity in private and public spaces.

Assisting Chris are MECC staff Angie Reynolds and Amy Greear, who selected this project for their Master Gardener Certification.

FREE Coding Camp at MECC! 🦾

Mountain Empire Community College is hosting a Coding Camp for current 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from June 1-5, 2026.

Students will learn foundational technology skills, explore computer programming concepts, participate in hands-on activities, and get a basic introduction to robotic movement using Python.

Space is limited to 20 students and spots are first come, first served. Lunch will be provided.
