The Mountain Empire Community College Foundation has selected Amber Murphy (left) and Blake Yates (2nd from right) as the 2026 recipients of the Evelyn Strouth Annual Scholarship. The students will receive $2,000 each to support their educational pursuits in the college's Program.

Today’s Faculty & Staff Spotlight is Mandy Robbins, Nursing Program Coordinator at Mountain Empire Community College!

A proud Lee County native, Mandy’s nursing journey began right here in Southwest Virginia after graduating from the Virginia Appalachian Tricollege Nursing Program in 2007. From serving as a bedside nurse in a local emergency department to becoming a nursing educator and now leading as MECC’s Nursing Program Coordinator, Mandy has built her career around patient care, student success, and preparing the next generation of nurses.

Her dedication to nursing education and her commitment to serving our region make her an incredible part of the MECC family.
