Our team had a great time in Mobile last week attending the GULFCON Conference! 🌊

We were excited to present our work, connect with fellow professionals from across the Gulf region, and learn more about the innovative projects and partnerships helping strengthen our coastal communities. Conferences like GULFCON provide such a valuable opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and continue growing together as we work toward a more resilient Gulf Coast.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk with our team, we enjoyed the conversations, networking opportunities, and chance to represent the work being done across our region!

Happy Earth Day! πŸŒŽπŸ’š

We had an incredible time celebrating with students from Ocean Springs Middle School as part of our Glass Roots project! From getting our hands (and feet!) muddy while planting native marsh grasses, to learning about birding and exploring the impacts of sea level rise through interactive games, this field trip was one to remember.

These students didn’t just learn about coastal ecosystems; they helped restore them. Every plant placed in the marsh is a step toward a more resilient shoreline and a healthier habitat for wildlife.

Here’s to the next generation of environmental stewards getting outside, asking questions, and making a difference, one muddy step at a time. 🌱🐦🌊

Happy National Gardening Day! 🌱🌊

Today, we’re celebrating more than just planting seeds, we’re growing the future of our coastal communities. Our Glass Roots team has been working with students to grow native marsh grasses, giving them hands-on experience while teaching the vital role marshes play in protecting our coastline.

A huge thank you to our Glass Roots plant team for your dedication, creativity, and passion for connecting students to the environment!

Our team had an amazing time this weekend at Celebrate the Gulf! 🌊✨

We loved connecting with the community by creating custom buttons and playing our interactive timeline game.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, learned with us, and shared in the fun. Here’s to continuing to celebrate and protect the Gulf! πŸ’™πŸŒŽ

New paper out!

This paper takes a look at coastal salinization across the United States and the growing need for coordinated monitoring efforts of saltwater intrusion in both surface and groundwater systems. We also highlight key data gaps and opportunities to better support community resilience.

Take a look:

🌾 Our Glass Roots team recently welcomed students from Ocean Springs Upper Elementary for a field trip that served as a hands-on culmination of their participation in the program. The day began with a living shoreline planting, where students were able to put what they learned into action while helping support coastal restoration.

We so enjoy getting students outside to make a difference!

✨ Our team had a stitching-tastic time partnering with the Audubon Delta - Mississippi Coastal Stewardship Program at the Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Center! Andrew led a beginner-friendly crochet class where participants got creative and learned to crochet their very own piping plovers, and even got to take their adorable creations home. πŸ§ΆπŸ’›

It was a fun way to combine craft and conservation, celebrating one of our favorite coastal birds while learning a new skill! 🐦
