Today's Careers in Student Affairs Month spotlight features our awesome First Year Rep, Emily Ziemba!

"My name is Emily Ziemba, and I am the First Year Representative for SAGA! My role on the E-Board is to serve as the liaison between the first-years in the SAA program and SAGA, promoting the many different fundraisers and professional development events we host. Here at Binghamton, I work as a Career Engagement Graduate Assistant within the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development. Here, I have the opportunity to work one-on-one with students completing a variety of tasks. Together, we create documents such as resumes, cover letters, and personal statements that highlight each student's capabilities and achievements; we complete and analyze self-assessments as part of the career and major exploration process; and we prepare for graduate school and industry-specific interviews. I truly love the work I do each day, serving as a resource for students to express their concerns and talk through their thought processes is extremely impactful. Everyday I am grateful to work alongside my fellow Fleishman GA's, they encourage me to be the best I can be for myself and the students I assist. After I graduate from the Student Affairs Program in two years, I am unsure of where exactly I would like to end up. However, I know it is somewhere I can continue helping others as I do everyday here at Fleishman."

Today's Careers in Student Affairs Month spotlight features one of our incredible GSO Senators, Indiara Jackson!

"My name is Indiara Jackson and I am the GSO Senator for SAGA. Last year, I spent my GA with the Fleishman Center and my MSW internship with the DOS CARE Team office. As a GA my role was to provide resume, cover letter, and other career services to the undergrad and grad student populations. As an MSW intern, my role was to provide case management services to both student populations as well. I loved both of my roles because it allowed me to expand my knowledge and I loved hearing the student success stories after they received both services!"

"My name is Kelsey Sixberry and I am the Marketing Manager for SAGA! My assistantship is in Campus Activities, in Leadership and Programming. I have the opportunity to assist with our office's social media accounts, large-scale campus events, such as UFest, the Fall concert, Spring Fling, and the Student Awards Gala, as well as leadership programming through the coordination of the Dean's Team student leadership program. The main part of my role is organizing and facilitating our Dean's Team meetings, monthly leadership workshops, and guiding our Dean's Team students with the event planning process as they work to plan various campus events. I love working with the amazing students here at Binghamton, helping with campus events, and learning from the incredible professionals here on campus."
