The UAB Youth Safety Lab invites families with children ages 10, 11 or 12 to participate. Children must have some experience with hunting, shooting or fi****ms in the home. The study involves 5 visits to the UAB Youth Safety Lab. Parents respond to questionnaires. Children engage in a range of computer and laboratory tasks, plus respond to short questionnaires. Children will receive training in either fi****ms safety or nutrition (randomly assigned), and families will earn up to $550 for their participation, including $150 for each 2-hour visit and $50 for each 30-minute training session. Parking is provided. Children receive a toy prize at each visit. There are no medical or stressful procedures involved and most children enjoy participating.
