UAB is on track to welcome the largest freshman class in university history for the second year in a row, with approximately 2,600 first-year students expected this fall.

That’s nearly 30% growth in freshman enrollment over the past two years.

Five years. Nearly 5,000 families. Close to 10,000 books. 📚💚

UAB and Children’s of Alabama are celebrating five years of NICU Bookworms, a program built around a simple but powerful idea: Reading to babies matters.

Since 2021, the program has helped families make reading part of their NICU experience, supporting early development while creating meaningful moments of connection between parents and their babies.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin helped us celebrate the milestone by joining families in UAB’s Regional Newborn Intensive Care Unit for a very special story time.

We love seeing Blazers reach new heights. 🚀

Seven UAB students have been recognized by the NASA Alabama Space Grant Consortium, earning scholarships and fellowships that will support their education, research and future careers in STEM.

And two of our Blazers are headed even farther: UAB doctoral students will conduct research at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Johnson Space Center.
