“To me, Loyalty and Commitment flow from a heart of love! It’s about being faithful to your word, building trust through consistency, and choosing to stand by others no matter the cost. Loyalty and Commitment breeds community, and I’ve seen this in ZTA through the way that my sisters support, care for, and encourage each other! Being a part of this sisterhood has shown me the beauty of meeting people exactly where they are and loving and supporting them in whatever way they need. I’ve learned the importance of showing up for others in every season of life - even the small, mundane moments! Our chapter is full of women who value loyalty and embody it daily, and I am constantly challenged to seek out opportunities to love and serve those around me!”

For our next Key Value Spotlight, hear from PC ‘22 Julia Swiercek about how ZTA has developed her leadership skills!✨✨✨

“Zeta Tau Alpha has played a significant role in shaping me as a leader by providing countless opportunities to step into meaningful roles and contribute to something greater than myself. Through positions such as Social Chair, Vice President of Administration, Recruitment Committee member, and Big Little Coordinator, I’ve learned to communicate effectively and lead with both confidence and compassion. ZTA’s emphasis on service, sisterhood, and personal growth has pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, take initiative, and lead by example. In every leadership position, I have been surrounded by women who love deeply and are committed to making things better. I have truly been made better by the girls I’ve had the privilege to serve alongside—they consistently challenge me to grow as a leader. My biggest piece of advice to all members is to get involved as soon as they can! The saying “the more you put in, the more you get out” has proven completely true for my time in Zeta. The more involved I am, the more I love where I am.“

LIFELONG LEARNING!!!!

For our next Key Value spotlight, hear from PC ‘23 Amelia Hawthorne about the concept of Lifelong Learning and how it’s pushed her to grow during her time in ZTA!✨✨✨

“Lifelong learning means always being open to growth, whether it be academically, personally, or professionally. To me, it means continuing to explore who I am and what I’m passionate about. I am blessed to receive the gift of education, and I believe it goes beyond just the classroom. As Zetas, whether we’re navigating tough moments, celebrating big wins, or simply showing up for one another, we’re constantly learning; about the world, about each other, and about ourselves. I see this value being lived out throughout our chapter through my sisters encouraging each other to be curious, courageous, and intentional. It means taking the lessons previously learned and using them to face new challenges with confidence. By continuously pursuing experiences that challenge me, I am introduced to new things that further my learning. Zeta has given me so many opportunities to grow in lifelong learning and I am so grateful for how this sisterhood encourages me everyday!”🤍

RESPONSIBILITY!!!!

For our next Key Value Spotlight, hear from PC ‘22 Mae Sherrod about how this value has pushed her to be a better person in and outside of ZTA! ✨✨✨

“Responsibility in ZTA means to consistently live up to the standards and expectations of our sisterhood. It means holding myself and others accountable to foster an environment of respect and trust for one another. I’ve seen the women in this chapter boldly step forward and make choice that reflect our values. They strive to make the sometimes difficult but right decision, setting an example for other members to follow in suite. They encourage and pick up the slack when a sister asks for help. Zeta has allowed me to exercise this key value in positions I have held within the chapter, women who encourage me to hold true to my values, and have allowed for second chances when I fall short. This chapter has fostered an environment where trust and love are at our core allowing for responsible actions to easily fall into place. Zeta has encouraged me and held me to a higher standard in more ways than one, and I am so blessed to be a part of this sisterhood!🩵“

“For me, to seek understanding that we might gain true wisdom means choosing to listen with empathy, staying open to new perspectives, and being humble enough to admit we don’t know everything. In ZTA, I see this lived out when sisters ask intentional questions, support one another in tough seasons, and engage in honest conversations. Our chapter is filled with women who genuinely want to grow—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally—and that growth starts with a willingness to understand. We don’t pretend to have it all figured out, but we show up with grace, love, and a desire to grow in wisdom together!!!“

“Service has impacted the way I see the people around me—it’s opened my eyes to the beauty of loving others right where they are, both at home and global communities. It’s shown me that every person carries deep value and is worthy of time, care, and compassion! In ZTA, this value is lived out daily through quiet acts of love and support. It’s woven into the way we care for each other and our communities—a steady, genuine way of living that leaves a lasting impact. Our philanthropy—Breast Cancer Education and Awareness—is especially close to my heart after walking with loved ones through diagnosis. It’s a reminder that service means showing up with love and hope when it’s needed most!”

“To me, humility is being willing to put others first and serve them without wanting recognition. I see humility as one of the most important foundational aspects of ZTA! Humility is seen in our chapter when sisters come together to work behind the scenes to make our chapter thrive. When a sister is in need, humility and selflessness are shown because our sisterhood is built upon the fact that we want to help each other. Our sisters are always willing to be there for one another, without wanting the spotlight to be on them personally!”
