Our first-year University of Mary Speech-Language Pathology graduate students have been putting their knowledge into action through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences!
Recently, students have:
• Practiced clinical assessment skills through simulated oral-motor examinations.
• Moved beyond assessment scores to clinical decision-making by interpreting results and communicating findings in clear, compassionate, family-friendly language to standardized patients.
• Experienced interprofessional education (IPE) by observing a local Cleft Palate Clinic and learning how professionals collaborate to provide comprehensive, person-centered care.
These authentic experiences help students develop the clinical reasoning, confidence, skills, and compassion needed to translate classroom knowledge into clinical practice.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make these valuable learning opportunities possible!
Learning. Practicing. Reflecting. Growing. Preparing future SLPs to serve others with knowledge, skill, and compassion!
