Hello everyone, my name is Grant Colgan and I am the current chapter philanthropy chair.
I hope everyone is staying safe and doing well. We are having a great semester in Blacksburg.
I wanted to give a brief description of our Philanthropic projects for the fall of 2021.
Our main effort is helping to collect canned goods for Blacksburg High School’s Thanksgiving Baskets initiative. The school collects a specific list of goods and distributes “Thanksgiving baskets” to local families who are in need. I will attach the website and list of canned goods below. If you’re gonna be visiting Blacksburg before Thanksgiving, please try to clear out your pantry and see if you have any of the items on the list. Anything you can donate is appreciated!
On top of the canned goods they are also collecting monetary donations through a variety of sources:
- The first being paper checks made out to Blacksburg High School. On the memo line please put: “Thanksgiving Baskets - SAE”
- If you are not going to be in the area before Thanksgiving, I would recommend sending the money to our PayPal account at: http://paypal.me/VirginiaZeta
Please make sure to put “Thanksgiving baskets” in the message line on PayPal.
I am going to try and cut the donations off on Thursday, November 18th, when the school is stopping collection efforts. Please try to get any money or food in before then.

Additionally, we are going to be hosting a clothing drive later in the month, so if you have clothes that need to be donated please bring them to Blacksburg if the opportunity arises.
If you have any questions about any of the information I just shared please reach out to me via email me at [email protected]
I really appreciate any help you can provide!
As many of you know, the Student Council at BHS has a tradition of providing Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need. The clubs at BHS are vital in providing help to this effort, contributing around 100 baskets out of our 500 basket goal. This year we hope to continue our tradition of the Thanksgiv...
