SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Gillian Murphy 🫶

Gillian just graduated with her degree in systems biology. She was in Valiant for 4 years and she was head manager for 3 of those years! Gillian said that her favorite memory was “watching the team grow and become a cohesive unit over the season, eventually leading to the team placing second at champs.” 🏆

After graduation, Gillian will be going to optometry school at Indiana University School of Optometry! 👓

A BIG thank you from Valiant to Gillian for all of her help and support over the many years!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Sammy Frietchen ☺️

Sammy just graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree and she has been in Valiant for 4 seasons! She also held the assistant director position in 2022. Sammy said that one of her favorite memories was the first time she performed work that she choreographed herself! 👏

After graduation, Sammy is going to graduate school here at Virginia Tech! ❤️🧡

Valiant will miss you Sammy, but, we are so glad that you are staying for graduate school! We’ll see you around!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Marian Parong❣️

Marian just graduated with her bachelor of science in biology with a biomedical option! She has been in Valiant for 2 seasons. Marian said that her favorite memory is “my hug with Jess at the end of the This is Home show - it gave me all the feels 🥹”

After graduation, Marian is going to VCU to get her doctorate in physical therapy! 🙌

Good luck at VCU Marian! We will miss you and your incredible dance and flag skills!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Esther Palmer ⭐️

Esther is graduating with a degree in microbiology and she has been in Valiant for four seasons. Esther said that it was hard to pick just one favorite memory, but overall she really loved spinning with her friends every season. 🤗

After graduation, Esther is going to the University of Georgia to get her PhD in microbiology! 🦠🧪

Good luck with your PhD Esther! You are going to accomplish amazing things!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Catherine Miller 😎

Catherine is graduating with a Childhood Pre-Education degree. She has been Student Director for two years. Her favorite memories of Valiant was placing medals on the team both this year and the last. She loved seeing how everyone’s hard work and dedication paid off.🥈

After graduation, she will be completing the VCU RTR program for Elementary Education! 🍎

Catherine, you have done so much for this program and led us to great victories. We will miss you!

AGE OUT SPOTLIGHT: Megan Hyer 💚

Megan will be graduating in the spring of 2024! She is majoring in communications with a minor in global business practices to improve the human condition. She has been in Valiant for 3 seasons. She was the first ever Morale Chair last year and our Communications Officer this year! That means that all of the posts this year have been created by her (hello!) My favorite memory from Valiant was “Performing at championships this season! I had my best run of the show and I was really happy that my boyfriend and best friend were there to watch.”

We will miss you and the bright energy that you brought to Valiant Megan! ☀️

AGE OUT SPOTLIGHT: Alex Solomon🦎

Alex will be graduating in the spring of 2024! He is majoring in Animal and Poultry Sciences with a Companion and Lab Animal Emphasis. This was Alex’s 2nd season in Valiant and he was our Assistant Student Director this year! Alex said that his favorite memory from Valiant was “having long conversations with everyone in the van after competitions.”

We are really going to miss your talks and your jaw dropping gymnastics skills Alex! 🤗
